Las Vegas, NV Travel Guide Part One

Updated: Oct 28, 2021

Vegaas!! America's playground, I have been going to vegas every year since my 21st birthday not to put a number on it but 13 years is a long time. Get ready for a long post packed with wild things to do and exceptional restaurants.

Where To Stay

The Cosmopolitan has got to be my absolute favourite hotel in Vegas. It’s a luxury hotel located in the heart of the Las Vegas strip and is home to some of my favourite Vegas restaurants and bars. It’s home to the stunning chandelier bar and my favourite fast breakfast place Egg Slut. You can’t go wrong staying here.

Second would be Aria Resort & Casino located right next to The Cosmopolitan. Great location, Beautiful views and amazing restaurants. Modern vibe with tons of fun tech add ons, one for instance when you walk into your room the curtains go up, and the lights turn on its pretty neat!

The Wynn is another Las Vegas hotel that has been around since early 2000. This hotel has one of my favorite pools and holds the most Forbes travel guide five-star awards than any other independent hotel company in the world. If you don’t stay here at least go check it out. It is always beautifully decorated and the shopping is that of rodeo drive.

Things To Do

So many incredible things to do in Vegas there’s no way I could name them all. But let’s start with my favourites.

The Neon Museum Las Vegas is a must see it includes an outdoor exhibit space known as the boneyard which houses rescued signs from some iconic Vegas Hotels and casinos. We went during the day and it was so fun to see all the old signs, they also have a night tour and everything is lit up really takes you back to old Vegas.

You absolutely have to do the SlotZilla zip line, its a 12-story zip line that flies over Fremont Street. They have two options one doing the upper zip line where you lay flat Superman style or the lower zip line which is a seated flyover. I highly recommend the upper it’s an incredible experience for sure especially when Fremont Street is packed. You can people watch high in the sky while flying over the crowd, sometimes the crowd will cheer you on. Afterwards you can walk around Fremont St and pop into therapy for a cocktail or some lunch. They have great cocktails and I ordered a salmon salad it was the best cooked salmon I have ever eaten in my life, seriously!

We all know Vegas is known for their shows, they have it all from Cirque, Magic shows to Concerts!

I have to been to quite a few of the shows and countless concerts. I highly highly recommend you see a Cirque du Soleil show there are no words to describe what you will witness. My top two shows that I have seen multiple times and would recommend for a first timer are “O” it’s located at the Bellagio and has been running there for 22 years. Its a water based show and it's just wow, I don’t want to give anything away so just go see for yourself.

Second would be Zumanity or The Beatles Love. Humanity is 18+ only as it is very sexually charged, its hilarious and stunningly beautiful at the same time. Be warned lots of nudity!

The Beatles Love is amazing as well located at The Wynn, it tells a story through all of your favorite beatles songs and a sweet tribute to John Lennon. Must see!

Where To Eat & Drink

I’m going to start with my favorite places, first up Rose. Rabbit. Lie. Located in The Cosmopolitan this modern supper club is a show in and of itself. Upon entrance you are welcomed by a beautiful bar, low lighting, and performers tap dancing on pianos. This whole place is a mood, incredible food with surprising twists, handcrafted cocktails, and a live show that comes on every 20 mins or so. Enjoy!

Since we are still at The Cosmopolitan let's head to The Chandelier bar, you can’t miss it. If your staying here I’m sure you have already seen this stunning site, with the purple glow and the hanging crystals this 3-story bar is STUNNING!

The cocktail to order is the Verbena Cocktail, I don't believe it is on the menu but this one is a trip for sure, a trip for your taste buds that is. The cocktail is a lemon verbena and ginger infused margarita with a sichuan flower garnish. This little fruit alters your taste buds and makes your tongue literally feel fuzzy. The bartender will instruct you to eat the flower first then enjoy your cocktail. Your tongue will feel normal again I promise.

Update: This drink has been updated to a gin cocktail that changes colors, now called: “We’re All Mad Here” if you prefer a margarita they will still make you the Verbena Cocktail.

We always have to hit up a sushi place on vacation, I think sushi is my love language. Lots of sushi places to try in Vegas, but my favorite would have to be Koi located in Planet Hollywood. This restaurant is a favorite among celebrities so keep your eyes peeled. Things to try include the soft shell crab tempura, the Koi crispy rice, and the lobster tacos with mango salsa.

For breakfast a great spot to hit up is Eggslut, located in the Cosmopolitan this is a walk up breakfast place get there early there is usually a long line, but the egg sandwiches are totally worth it, you can also grab a mimosa or a bloody Mary in a can.

That’s a wrap for this edition lol, think I’m going to call it Vegas Part One, because I still have a long list over here of things you must try! Hope you enjoy!

xo, Kristin
