Alright ladies, this post took me a while to get together. Lots of researching what products are safe and which products to avoid. Now I am no doctor but based on my research these are the products I have found and love. I’ll start by listing the main ingredients you should avoid during pregnancy. The products you put on your body affect your baby as much as if not more so than the foods you eat.
Ingredients to Avoid
Retinoids (Anti-aging) Tetracycline (antibiotics) Hydroquinone (skin-lightening) Phthalates (chemicals added to plastics) Formaldehyde (preservative) Toluene (found in nail polishes) Ammonia (hair color) Dihydroxyacetone or DHA (self tanners) Thioglycolic Acid (hair removal creams) Botulinim Toxin (botox) fillers are best to avoid too.
Now onto the good stuff, I have found some incredible new products on this hunt most that I will continue to use even after pregnancy.
Face Wash –One Love Organics This is an oil based face wash so if you live anywhere dry like Colorado this wash is amazing!! It doesn’t suds up, but it gets the job done leaving your skin feeling clean and hydrated and it legit smells like a resort vacation!
Acne Mask – If your finding yourself more prone to acne during this time as I did this mask is killer! Algenist Alive Prebiotic Balancing Mask It starts out green and turns peachy once you rub it all in. Enjoy!
Charcoal Mask – Another great mask is One Love Organics Charcoal Mask great just to zen out and detoxify your face. This charcoal does not dry out like most of these masks, it very easy to apply and remove.
Eye Patches – Peter Thomas Roth Cloud is the holy grail of eye patches they have 3 different kinds. I love them all but truly feel this one works best, plus it’s prego safe! Bonus.
Face Lotion – The best overall moisturizer that I have found is Neutrogena’s hydro boost gel cream. Formulated with a hyaluronic acid this stuff works great and is very affordable.
Eye Cream – 100% Pure Coffee Bean eye cream is amazing even to use when not pregnant, the combo of caffeine-rich Green tea and coffee works naturally to reduce under eye puffiness and the appearance of dark circles.
Sunscreen – For those of you pregnant in the summer months this is the sunscreen for you. Elta MD is a great sunscreen and also comes packed with hyaluronic acid, Great to use after your favorite toner. Also Supergoop has an amazing 100% mineral body mist safe for baby.
Lip Gloss – Hands down Best lip gloss I have ever found is by Laneige. It’s called there sleeping mask but I use it at all times day. It’s super smooth, delicious tasting, and again has hyaluronic acid which makes your lips feel refreshed and supple.
Jade Roller – This is a must have in your beauty arsenal ALWAYS! A jade roller is a game changer, pop this beauty in your beauty fridge, and use it every morning with your moisturizer or serum. You can get them almost anywhere my favorite one is by Herbivore.
Skincare Fridge – Some people may think this is unnecessary but it comes in so handy and you can’t beat the Price. With the beauty fridge you can keep your Jade roller, eye masks, and facemasks cool. Keeping your products cool helps reduce puffiness when you use them and it’s so refreshing in the morning. Check it out here!
Body Oil – Holy grail for stretch marks is Bio-Oil. you can use it alone or add a few drops to your prego safe moisturizer. Barely any scent and soaks in great!
All products linked! Hope this helps out all you new mamas, and for those of you that aren’t pregnant these are great products to checkout.
